"Dad" lost his right hand in the early 60's in a mill accident at Toledo, wore a hook on his hand controlled by a harness. Kids always called him "Captain Hook" Was very involved in the sports organizations in Onalaska. Time keeper, ran the chains at football games. After he lost his hand, he spent the rest of his employment until retirement with Lewis Co. Road dept. Burial was a private family service, held at the Salkum cemetery. A couple days later, there was a memorial service held at the Presybterian Church in Onalaska.

Hugh F. Boyles, 97, of 9430 Highway Z, Nekoosa, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
There will be no public visitation or services.
Hugh was born Dec. 24, 1909, in New Rome to LeRoy and LaVina (Brown) Boyles. His wife, Bernadine (Christensen) Boyles preceded him in death.
He was employed at Nekoosa Papers (Domtar) for 27 years working in many areas of the paper company. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Marshall of Edina, Minn.
